Senior / Lead DevOps Engineer

Location: Ireland (Galway hybrid preferred; or remote within Ireland considered)

Overview

A growing technology company is seeking a Senior / Lead DevOps Engineer to take hands-on ownership of its platform infrastructure and deployment tooling. This is a senior individual contributor role with technical leadership responsibility, working closely with senior technical leadership on platform decisions.

The focus of the role is building, operating, and improving production systems — with an emphasis on reliability, observability, and operational simplicity.

Responsibilities

• Own and operate Kubernetes-based environments across development, demo, and customer deployments

• Improve reliability, performance, and upgradeability of existing infrastructure

• Design and maintain deployment patterns suitable for bare-metal and air-gapped environments

• Enhance CI/CD pipelines, developer workflows, and environment consistency

• Implement and maintain observability (metrics, logs, tracing, alerting)

• Debug production issues across application and infrastructure layers

• Contribute to platform architecture decisions and operational standards

• Document deployment patterns and operational practices

Requirements

Essential:

• Strong, hands-on experience running Kubernetes in production

• Experience supporting and upgrading long-lived systems

• Proven ability to improve reliability and performance of distributed systems

• Comfortable working with infrastructure-as-code and deployment tooling (e.g. Helm, CI/CD)

• Pragmatic, curious approach to problem-solving

Desirable:

• Experience with bare-metal or air-gapped Kubernetes deployments

• Observability tooling (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)

• Experience with search, analytics, or workflow platforms

• Exposure to GPU or ML-adjacent infrastructure

• Experience in non-hyperscaler environments

Working Style

• Majority hands-on engineering (~75%)

• Low-bureaucracy environment with close collaboration across engineering

• Emphasis on operational stability, supportability, and predictable upgrades
